Devils Water & Slaley Forest

This months walk was led by Andrea. It was a wiggley-windy route through woods and farm tracks for about four and a half miles. We were blessed with fine weather throughout.
Near the start (and end) of the walk. I guess this was a less tranquil spot in bygone times.
Near the start we met an almighty flock of  Ducks by the river. These were just some of them...

When we got into the woods Andrea had to warn us about the ant hills. You do not want to stand too  near to these for any length of time!.

Ants were not the only creepy-crawlies. ....

The midges were also to be reckoned with- as I discovered the day after.

Stopping for an early lunch, Marie found the biggest crisp in Stella Strollers history!

Jackson is hopeful when it comes to pork pies...

Here we are deciding that the next walk will be Oct 22nd. Bellingham to Hareshaw Lynn and back.

It was muddy in places.

We finished with drinks at the Travellers rest nr Slayley and some of us had a well earned rest.

Thanks to Andrea for a very enjoyable stroll. If anyone has any pics of the day that they would like to add just let me know.
